Visit the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.

Located along Battleship Parkway, Mobile, the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is a massive edifice housing “the Mighty A”—a BB 60 Battleship that was decommissioned after WWII. You can opt to explore the several parts of the ship including the officers’ mess, turrets, bridge, and the captain’s cabin.

This military park also houses the USS Drum, a submarine that was used during WWII. You can also tour the many features inside the submarine.

Take a trip to the Gulf State Park.

Located around Gulf Shores, the Gulf Shores is a popular tourist destination hotspot, opening its doors for both campers and the usual day-trippers. It offers about 500 full-hookup sites for RVs to park, which makes it well equipped for large gatherings.

There’s a Nature Center available that offers free activities and classes for kids. You and your family can choose to take the guided nature walks, fishing lessons, and get a close-up encounter with some animals.

Some sporting activities at the Gulf State Park includes tennis courts, swimming pool, splash pad, volleyball, horseshoes, kayak, cycling, and of course a championship golf course. With a very affordable entrance fee, you and your family will enjoy fun and excitement there.

Visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Civil Rights Historic District.

If you want to learn all about the Civil Rights Movement in America, The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is the best place to be. In there, you’d find permanent and temporary artifacts and exhibits that exposes a great deal on the segregation Black Americans faced before and in the ’60s.

Most notably, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of the ill-fated bombing of the Sixteen Street Baptist Church on the 15th of September, 1963 by the Ku Klux Klan which brought about a drastic change in 1964 with the passing of the Civil Rights Acts.

Located along Washington Avenue, the Civil Rights Memorials of Montgomery features an expertly carved granite commemorating all those who were killed during the era of the Civil Rights Movement. This unforgettable memorial sits next to the Civil Rights Memorial Center, where you can find exhibits and educational displays. You also get a chance to see the Wall of Tolerance.

Another landmark to visit is the recently-opened National Memorial for Peace and Justice, a center dedicated to African Americans who were victims of racial violence and lynching. You’d also find a field of 800 statutes, depicting all the counties where lynchings took place.

Visit Orange Beach.
